May I ask you a Question?
Has anyone ever taken a Bible and showed you, how you can know for sure that you are going to heaven, may I?
The Bible has both bad news and good news, the bad news is about us and the good news is about God.
We will start with the bad news first, okay?
Bad News:
All have sinned Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God "
The word sin means to "miss the mark". God has set the mark as His holiness and righteousness. It is like if we were to try and throw a rock at a far away target. Some would get closer than others but all would miss it. It does not matter how close you are, only that you missed.
The problem with the bad news is that it gets worse:
The Penalty for sin is death Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death"
A wage is something that we earn and what we deserve. If you were hired to paint someone's house and they refused to pay you, you would be mad because it is what you have earned and what you deserve. God is saying that what you have earned with your sin and what you deserve is death. The word death means separation. Physical death is separation of the soul and spirit from the body. Spiritual death is eternal and painful separation from God.
God saw that we could not come to Him, so He came to us:
Christ paid the penalty for our sin Romans 5:8, "But God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
The key here is the little word "for" it means in place of or on behalf of. For example, think if you were dying of cancer and someone came and took the cancer cells out your body and placed them into their body. Then they would die in your place because they took what was killing you and took it upon themselves. In the same manner the Lord Jesus took what was killing us, and took it upon Himself.
Just as the bad news got worse, the good news gets even better!
You can be saved through faith Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
Faith is to believe, trust, or commit to. For example, let's say that you are going to take an airplane and fly from Omaha to Denver. You have to get on the airplane and once on the airplane you are committed, whatever happens to the plane happens to you. When we trust in the Lord Jesus, He has said that because I live you will live.
Is there anything keeping you from trusting Christ right now?
If not, you can believe in your heart and then pray and tell God that you repent of your sins and are trusting in Christ to save you.
To Be Sure:
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life and shall not come into judgment but has passed from death into life." John 5:24
Did you hear the word?
Did you believe the word?
What do you have?
How do you know?
